Notes

The competing-identification votes (roughly -20 to +30 per source) are the interesting part: scholarly disagreement about where an ancient site actually is comes quantified in the data, so the atlas can show rival candidates side by side rather than pretending to one answer. NOTE: the geometry files carry OpenStreetMap data under ODbL 1.0, a different licence from the rest of the repository.

They are published because the data is real, and they are listed here because this dataset is the only thing that connects them to anything: guessing at a nearest biblical neighbour would invent a relationship the source does not assert.
